Our team won its first league match against reigning champions Sannat Lions 1-0. Edinson Estrada Sanchez scored what was to be the winning goal. Our boys missed numerous scoring opportunities. They could have put the match away from Sannat reach but they did not succeed to do so and so kept everyone within the blue camp on their toes till the last whistle of the referee. The goal arrived at around the 30th minute thanks to the persistence of Eman Bugeja who won three consecutive 50/50 balls passed the ball to Joseph Vella who released Estrada the later putting past Sannat's keeper with a low shot.
Our coaches had to reshuffle the team since skipper Joseph Refalo, Chris Sciortino were missing due to a 2 match suspension together with Nicholas Vella (abroad). After a shaky start the team settled down and started creating one chance after another. Emman Bugeja and Ajibade Adesina slotted well in central midfield and were instrumental in our team's play but surely the positive result was achieved thanks to a collective effort and the team kept its composure till the end even if we managed as mentioned before to lose one opportunity after another, miss a penalty and hit the crossbar.
