After having won and been declared champions for the second year in a row our girls won another honour, that of the K/O competition winning against Xaghra 6-4. That's what they had done last year too. Emma Xuereb scored a hat trick, Joslene Gafa a brace and our captain, Melania Bajada added another one. It was a well contested final and this thanks to Xaghra who ran their hearts out for this match. Our girls looked tired as there were many of them who played 3 matches in 3 days and those who didn't, played 2 in 3 days. Still they were the better team except for the last quarter of an hour of the first half were Xaghra managed to get the draw after having been trailing our girls by two goals. They also managed to hit the woodwork 5 times. The Cup and medals were delivered after the match by the GFA and Kurdistan officials. Wild celebrations ensued at the club and this time not even the President and Coach succeeded in remaining dry, as everyone got soaked to the bone! It was a fitting ending for these girls. They reaped what they had sowed all season. They succeeded in winning every game bar one (a draw), this season, K/O included. What they did and achieved will be a hard nut to crack for anyone and if they succeed to keep on working hard and keep this unity in the group we are sure that there will be more success in the future. Well done girls you are the pride of our club.
